About DETSEC
Founded in 2017, Deep East Texas Security (DETSEC) is a collective of IT professionals, cybersecurity practitioners, makers, hackers, and enthusiasts. We started with a focus on information security and have grown into a community that spans cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, radio communications, home automation, hardware hacking, and physical computing platforms like Arduino and Raspberry Pi. We recognize that technology touches everything — and that understanding it, building with it, and securing it are skills worth sharing.
DETSEC welcomes professionals, students, hobbyists, businesses, schools, government organizations, and anyone with curiosity and a willingness to learn. Whether you’re hardening a network, training an AI model, building a mesh radio node, or just starting out — there’s a place for you here.
DETSEC members recognize that technical challenges transcend politics. Our members come from a wide variety of backgrounds with different skills and experience levels. No one will be flamed, shamed, or trolled by a fellow member for any reason. We share information freely as long as it does not violate the law, a regulation, or disclose sensitive or private information. We are united by curiosity, a love of building and breaking things responsibly, and a commitment to leaving our communities safer and better informed than we found them.
